Packing A Lunch (for school)

Leftovers are awesome! But if you don't have access to a fridge/microwave, they don't always work.It can be hard to keep things nutritious and varied.

Try to have at least one delicious thing from each these categories on hand. Then you can combine them according to taste, preference, and left overs

Vegetables

 - carrots - lettuce - fresh spinach - tomatoes - avocado - potato - sweet potato - cucumber - sugar snap peas -

Fruitier

 - grapes - apples - clementines - bananas - kiwi - strawberries - blueberries - blackberries - peaches - pineapple - oranges -

Proteiners

 - chicken - lunch meat - almonds - cashews - pistachios - kidney beans - garbanzo beans - eggs - peanut butter -

Cheesers

 - cheddar - mozzarella - parmesan - provolone - pepper jack - cottage cheese - ricotta cheese -

Carbohydrations

 - tortillas - pastas - breads -

Seasonings/condiments

 - salt - pepper - italian seasoning - mustard - lime/lemon juice - plain yogurt - cinnamon -

Easy Snackers

 - pretzels - cheezits - goldfish - wheat thins - chex mix -

Freezing smoothies is also awesome. I'd freeze a serving in ziploc bags--plastic cups can help it keep it's shape if you cannot crush/smush up the frozen smoothie into your thermos.

Use frozen veggies in dish instead of an ice pack

Ideas for Delicious formulas:

  • Pasta + frozen veggie + spices + lemon juice/dressing/mustard/cheeses + nuts/meat/egg
  • Pasta + frozen veggie + ricotta cheese + mustard + parmesan
  • Tortilla + lettuce/spinach + cheese + avocado/beans/egg/meat
  • Tortilla + peanut butter + grated carrots
  • Tortilla + diced turkey + cream cheese + pineapple
  • Wheat thins + peanut butter + fruit (pack a knife to spread peanut butter at lunch)

Don't forget to spice things up!! :)

  1. Mmmm! Great ideas. I'll have to pack some of these in Bryan's lunches.
