Tuna Cheese Swirls

1/2 small onion, diced
2 Tbsp diced bell pepper
3 Tbsp oil
6 Tbsp flour
1 can chicken with rice soup (or chicken broth)
1 soup can water
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 6 oz can tuna, drained
1/2 pound cheddar cheese, grated


Saute the onion and bell pepper in the oil
Add all flour to the oil
Do not brown
Combine chicken with rice soup and 1 can water
Add to flour mixture
if too thick, add water to thin a little
Add lemon juice
Add tuna
Heat almost to boiling
Remove from heat and pour into 9x13 in casserole dish


Cheese swirls
1 large can flaky biscuits or make your own favorite biscuit dough
1/2 pound cheddar cheese, grated

With can of biscuits or favorite biscuit dough, roll out to rectangle thickness of about 1/2 in
Place cheddar cheese over the dough
Roll into a jelly roll
Slice in 1 inch slices and place on top of the tuna mixture in the casserole dish
Bake at 425 for about 15 minutes or until biscuits are brown and cheese is beginning to crust
Make sure the liquied part is hot when you put the rolls on it

  2. So I made it and it turned out really well, but I wanted to ask a few questions.... First, do you put in 1 T of lemon juice or 2? It's listed twice in the ingredients. Second, have you made this? What did you think? Would you ever make it again? And then the last one isn't a question, it's more of an observation that it took about 30 minutes for mine to cook. That's for the benefit of anyone else who decides to try this out :)

    Yes, I liked it, I would make it again. But definitely with a veggie side :)
